Root Canals
When decay or a fracture has exposed the nerve (pulp) of a tooth, it can still be saved with root canal therapy. Root canal therapy involves replacing the diseased pulp with an inert material that will keep the tooth functional. If the tooth is left untreated, the following symptoms may occur:
- Irritation (caused by deep decay)
- Advanced gum disease
- A noticeable pain or pulsing feeling when biting
- Temperature Sensitivity
- Severe decay causes inflammation
- Infection
Most root canal procedures can be completed in one visit. Your dentist will recommend the most appropriate restoration to place over the tooth, which may include a crown. As long as you follow through with your recommended treatment, you should be able to enjoy your new tooth for years to come.
